Pendek
Filem
pendek lazimnya mengambil masa tayangan yang
lebih singkat berbanding filem cereka.
Kebanyakan filem pendek mengambil masa tayangan
kurang daripada 60 minit. Tiada jangka masa
minimum yang ditetapkan untuk jenis filem
sebegini. Ada yang mencapai 30 minit, 10 minit,
malah 3 minit. Oleh kerana had masa tayangan
yang singkat, isi kandungan filem pendek juga
terbatas. Filem pendek berkait rapat dengan
elemen eksperimen dan ia tidak mementingkan
penceritaan yang padat. Terdapat juga filem
pendek yang bersifat seperti filem cereka namun
aspek penceritaannya tidak merumitkan dan agak
ringkas. Biasanya filem pendek tidak ditayangkan
di pawagam kerana selain masa tayangan yang
singkat, format filem pendek juga tidak sesuai
untuk tayangan di layar perak (bersesuaian juga
dengan kos pembikinannya yang sedikit). Biasanya
filem pendek dihasilkan oleh penuntut jurusan
seni filem dan individu yang berminat untuk
mengembangkan bakat seni filem mereka.
